Small wells in the desert - inspiring movie scenes

Everytime I need something to lift me out of my depression, there are a few choice popular movie scenes that I replay over and over again from my DVD collection:

1. Chariots of Fire (1981): "And when I run, I feel His pleasure..."

2. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002): Gandalf's last-minute rescue at Helms Deep looks like a painting in slow motion....

3. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002): "There's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for..." Sam was realistic enough to say "some good," not a "lot of good..."

4. Beyond the Gates aka Shooting Dogs (2005) - An excellent underrated movie on the Rwandan genocide which IMO is far superior to the Hollywood version Hotel Rwanda. John Hurt's final farewell to his student is grace in the midst of murder and madness...

5. Excalibur (1981) - King Arthur reborn. Always loved the music that accompanied this piece but in more than 20 years, still can't get a copy.

6. Man of La Mancha (1973): Too much sanity may be madness

The incomparable Peter O'Toole as Miguel de Cervantes, while waiting to be summoned by the Inquisition, debates that the dreamer, and not the pragmatist, is the wiser man. IMO, one of the most haunting monologues I've seen on film (even if this particular celluloid adaptation of the Broadway musical critically and commercially bombed)

7. Chariots of Fire - bringing this list to full circle. Eric Liddell shares with a crowd on pursuing one's path. The 1981 Oscar-award-winning movie was based on the real life of 2 British champion runners in the 1930s: Harold Abrahams and Liddell, who died a martyr in China 20 years after his Olympic triumph.
